ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

What are the admission requirements at IUB Pharmacy?

  • Must pass SSC/recognized equivalents and HSC/recognized equivalents in Science Group and obtain a minimum GPA 3.50 (on a scale of 5) without any additional subject.
  • Must pass HSC/ “A” level or recognized equivalent examination in current year or one previous year.
  • Must have a minimum aggregate GPA 8.00 in SSC/recognized equivalent and HSC/recognized equivalent examinations (on a total scale of 10).
  • Must pass both SSC/recognized equivalents & HSC/recognized equivalent examination with a minimum GPA 4.00 (on a scale of 5) in Chemistry and Biology separately and a minimum GPA 3.50 in Physics and Mathematics (on a scale of 5). For ‘A’ levels, the minimum grade is ‘B’ in Chemistry and Biology and ‘C’ in Physics and Mathematics.
  • Foreign students must have passed 12 education years and got same grades in equivalent examinations from foreign recognized institutions.
  • Other 12 years equivalent degree (must have the equivalence certificate from Ministry of Education).
  • However candidates failed in Mathematics or having no Mathematics at the HSC/ “A” level or recognized equivalents may be admitted, but they need to take an extra 3 (three) credits course on Mathematics relevant to B. Pharm. curriculum
    .  

Is there any way to take admission in IUB Pharmacy without an examination?

No! You must sit for the admission exam to get admitted in IUB Pharmacy. The only exceptions might be if you have taken SAT/IELTS/TOEFL recently and have attained sufficiently high score in these exams.

What is the meaning of “credit” or “credit hour” in relation to the courses?

Answer: Credit hour is a number assigned to a course. This number is based on the total number of classes that takes place in that course. For example, a 3 credit course in Pharmacy will have 24 classes in total, while a 1 credit course in Pharmacy will have 8 classes in total. All theory courses in Pharmacy are 3-credit courses while all practical/laboratory & viva courses are 1-credit courses.

How long are the semesters at the Department of Pharmacy?

Answer: Semesters at the Department of Pharmacy are 6-months long.

How many semesters are there in a year at the Department of Pharmacy?

Answer: There are two semesters at the Department of Pharmacy.

Does IUB Pharmacy offer the 4-year of the 5-year BPharm Program?

Answer: IUB Pharmacy offers the 4-year BPharm Program.

How much is the credit fee at IUB?

Answer: The fee per credit is Taka 7,500/= (For Summer’2024 students and onwards)

Are there any tuition fee waiver/scholarship available?

There are waivers for meritorious students.

What is the total fee for the whole course?

Answer: Tuition fees can vary based on many factors, most importantly, based on the result of students at IUB. In addition, all female students get an automatic tuition fee waiver of 10% every semester (Maintenance CGPA and Maintenance credit hours: 3.25 and 12 credit hours in a semester).

However, the approximate total fee over 4-years is given below.

  • Male Students (with no waiver, For Summer ‘2024 students and onwards):
    (Taka 7,500 x 167 credits)
    + (Taka 25,000 for LFE 201) + (Taka 12,000 for per semester Library, Computer, Laboratory & Student Activities Fee x 8 bi-semesters) + (Taka 25,000 once in 4 years for non-refundable admission fee) = BDT 13,98,500 (Taka thirteen lakh ninety-eight thousand five hundred) only 
  • Female Students (with 10% female discount, For Summer ‘2024 students and onwards):
    (Taka 6,750 x 167 Credits) + (Taka 25,000 for LFE 201) + (Taka 12,000 for per semester Library, Computer, Laboratory & Student Activities Fee x 8 bi-semesters) + (Taka 25,000 once in 4 years for non-refundable admission fee) = BDT 12,73,250 (Taka twelve lakh seventy-three thousand two hundred fifty) only 

How much tuition fee do I have to pay every semester (every 6 months)?

It depends on the number of courses and credits you take in a particular semester and varies significantly.

  • Male Students (with no waiver, For Summer ‘2024 students and onwards):
    1. Taking 12 credits will pay (12 x 7,500) + 12,000 = Taka 1,02,000 every six months
    2. Taking 15 credits will pay (15 x 7,500) + 12,000 = Taka 1,24,500 every six months
    3. Taking 18 credits will pay (18 x 7,500) + 12,000 = Taka 1,47,000 every six months
    4. Taking 22 credits will pay (22 x 7,500) + 12,000 = Taka 1,77,000 every six months 
  • Female Students (with 10% female discount, For Summer ‘2024 students and onwards):
    1. Taking 12 credits will pay (12 x 6,750) + 12,000 = Taka 93,000 every six months
    2. Taking 15 credits will pay (15 x 6,750) + 12,000 = Taka 1,13,250 every six months
    3. Taking 18 credits will pay (18 x 6,750) + 12,000 = Taka 1,33,500 every six months
    4. Taking 22 credits will pay (22 x 6,750) + 12,000 = Taka 1,60,500 every six months

Do you provide installment facility in tuition fee payment?

Yes. The Department of Pharmacy allows payment of tuition fees in easy installments.
